Code of Conduct

Effective date: 27 May 2025

The vibe is respectful. The standard is professional. The goal is impact.

Purpose

This Code of Conduct sets the expectations for anyone engaging with SWAA—as a member,

training partner, ambassador, or contributor. It’s here to protect our community, uphold

our values, and make sure we keep things real, ethical, and inclusive.

By being part of SWAA, you agree to live these values in everything you do under our

banner, and when contributing personally or virtually in our many and varied forums.

  1. Be Respectful
  • Treat clients, peers, families, and the broader community with kindness and dignity—always.
  • Respect diverse backgrounds, cultures, abilities, and identities.
  • Engage in professional dialogue, even when opinions differ. We don’t do online rants, name-calling, or keyboard warrioring.

  1. Be Professional
  • Keep your work within scope, stay informed, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
  • Don’t misrepresent your qualifications or offer advice you’re not trained to give.
  • Follow all relevant laws and codes—like the NDIS Code of Conduct, Privacy Act, and any relevant professional standards.

  1. Keep It Confidential
  • Do not share private, sensitive, or identifying information about clients or colleagues without consent.
  • If you share stories for learning or promotion, make sure they’re de-identified—or better yet, get clear written consent…that will save any future heartache for all involved.

  1. Show Integrity
  • Be honest in your dealings, invoices, documentation, and agreements.
  • Report unethical or unsafe behaviour if you see it—silence isn’t golden when harm is involved.
  • If something goes wrong, own it and work toward a solution. We’re all human.

  1. Represent SWAA With Pride
  • If you’re a SWAA ambassador, trainer, or partner, your actions reflect on the whole community. Please act accordingly.
  • When using SWAA’s name, brand, or materials, stick to the agreed terms and don’t remix or repurpose without permission.
  • Don’t speak on behalf of SWAA unless you’re authorised to do so. If you wish to fly the SWAA flag on our behalf…. Reach out to us, let’s chat and make sure we give you the green light.

  1. Take Care of Yourself and Others
  • Practice self-care and don’t be afraid to reach out for help—we’re all about support.
  • Promote safe, inclusive spaces in your workplace, training, and community engagements.
  • Contribute in ways that lift others up—not in competition, but in collaboration.

Breaches of This Code

If you breach this Code, we may:

  • Have a quiet chat;
  • Suspend or cancel your membership or partnership; and/or
  • Remove access to SWAA platforms or benefits.

We’ll always aim to be fair, transparent, and restorative—but we’re serious about keeping

this community safe, professional, and positive…. Let’s all do our bit to make this a strong, supportive and safe community.Â
